Beer Distributors. Seems a novel idea, doesn't it...marketing beer to college students? Fact was, Porterfield Distributing Company in Roanoke and Edens Distributing Company in Pulaski put quite a few dollars in the coffers of WUVT-AM for advertising. Some was even done as co-op advertising, where the client pays a small percentage, the manufacturer the rest. Possible Downside: all those notarized affidavits we had to produce with lists of times aired. But, those barons of brew did quite well financially for WUVT-AM. Their commercials sounded dynamite on the air, too!
