From Peter Morrison:
My favorite memory of WUVT was trying to nab someone who was cutting the transmission line between the studio and Lee Hall. The second time I was listening to the station in my Lee Hall dorm room. Suddenly, the station is off air. I grabbed my shoes and sprinted to the area where the cables were being cut. Saw nobody unusual. The next time the staff had the entire lower quad staked out, hoping to catch someone going down an air vent. Saw nothing. But the cable was cut despite the massive stake out. Apparently the culprit had entered near McBride and come down and back up through the tunnels. This time the guy took an 8-foot section of the cable to prevent easy splicing. After that, the cable cutter stopped. I have suspicions it was an inside job ... someone who knew what we were doing and when. And since graduation I have deduced a probable suspect. A wily type with a (known) criminal mind. I can still recall being in the tunnel with the engineers repairing the line and hearing Tears for Fears on the air once the line was repaired.
