As a carrier-current station, WUVT-AM maintained a network of cables in the steam tunnels on both the Tech and Radford campuses over the years. Those cables were subjected to high temperatures, wear and tear, and someimes vandalism. The intrepid, hearty members of the engineering staff who volunteered to crawl through those steam tunnels to maintain those vital cable links came to be known as the Woovit Mole Squad.

Having explored most of the steam tunnel system both at Tech & Radford pulling RG-58, I think that I qualify as a member of the Mole Squad.
