PAMS of DallasSpecial Report
How We Got Those Jingles
By Scott (Greg E. Lovin) Wainwright

The period I was at WUVT, from '65 to '69, was a fantastic time of professional growth for WUVT. We bought a new state-of-the art Gates board and, the biggest thing of all, we bought PAMS Series 31 jingles.

Former WUVT GM
WUVT was the first college station in the U.S. to buy PAMS jingles, the foremost jingles in the trade at that time and subsequently recognized as the best ever.

Having PAMS jingles put us up in the ranks with WABC and all the other top commercial professional stations that were running Series 31, and really gave us a fantastic sound.

We were able to buy the PAMS jingles because PAMS gave us a special price as a college station, made even lower by the fact that series 31 was "out of date" for PAMS at that time, since they were selling Series 35 or 36 then.

Also, WUVT didn't buy the full package---we got somewhere between 1/2 and 2/3 of the cuts, but we did include a bunch of sonovox jock ID intro cuts.

Jim Camicia started out as a jock on WUVT but worked his way up to General Manager, I think in the '66-'67 timeframe.
What he did was convince the Faculty Advisor who "oversaw" WUVT that the station could afford PAMS jingles and could use them to make the station more professional sounding. Jim also was the one who went to Dallas to "supervise" the recording sessions at PAMS when they were producing the WUVT 31 jingles.
