Collins Twintape
The Collins® Twintape found its way to various studio configurations at WUVT; it was the main cart machine for WUVT-AM in Studio B in 1970, and eventually moved to WUVT-FM's Studio C. It was a two-deck audio cartridge player that did not use a shared capstan, unlike the Spotmaster® Five-Spot or Ten-Spot or the later ITC® triple-deck machines.

We used the Twintape with the outboard record unit mounted on top as shown at left. The record unit could be switched to record on either the left slot or the right slot, but the most unique feature of that switch was the dub position, which enabled the machine to record from one slot to the other and start both slots simultaneously.

The dub position would not actually record unless the Record button was pressed and armed/lit up. This would create a favorite hack of practical jokers: diverting the on-air operator's attention and turning the switch to dub. The next time the operator tried to start a cart, both carts would start and play simultaneously.
